The Rotary Engine

The Mazda Wankel Rotary Engine are types of rotary combustion and family of car engines. It is well known for its portability and significant power output at the expense of poor fuel efficiency. It is three times smaller than a conventional four-cylinder piston combustion engines and provides less vibrations and stress to the vehicle which makes it an engine which provides a car with superior balance and handling. The characteristics of the Wankel rotary engine give high performance vehicles advantages in all aspects of auto racing except fuel efficiency which includes better tire durability, cornering speeds, acceleration, and top speed.
The performance of the Wankel Engine has made it popular with car enthusiasts in making high performance motor vehicles and even light aircraft enthusiasts but due to its poor fuel economy, it has not been put into mass production in most vehicles and are only applied into a number of high performance vehicles manufactured by Mazda which is the only Automotive manufacturer to use the Wankel rotary engine into serial production. Some of the well-known production sports cars equipped with the Mazda Wankel rotary engine are the Mazda RX-Series.
